Oscar Wilde

(1854—1900)

Irish playwright. Oscar Fingal O'Flahertie Wills Wilde was born in Dublin, on October 16, 1854. Died Paris 30 November, 1900. Educated at Trinity College Dublin and at Magdalen College, Oxford, gained atthe latter the reputationof founder of an aesthetic cult, which was caricatured in Gilbert and Sullivan's comic opera, Patience.
