Guglielmo continues his efforts to win Giacinta, who wavers in her affections. He almost succeeds when it becomes apparent that Leonardo's foolish extravagances have all but ruined him.

However, Filippo saves the day by appointing Leonardo manager of his property in Genoa.

Guglielmo resigns himself to marriage with Vittoria.
